Linda Stonestreet | Visual Music

Make a Joyful Noise Acrylic on Canvas 48 x 48 $800.
For her visual music paintings, she used acrylic pouring paint in little squeeze bottles, applying one color at a time with masterful concentration. "Some drops were added with fingers, Linda explains, "When I paint with oil, I don’t have a concept as I start. In this series, I began with my theme name in mind, so I purposely tried to capture a musical trio or instrument."

Jazz Quartet Acrylic on Canvas 30 x 24 $300.
The precise randomness in Linda's swirls and drips of acrylic pigments suggest the purity of joyous sound floating in air, the joy of controlled freedom, and the joy in trusting color to create a spontaneous tonal harmony. Visual music, indeed.
