Walls and Wearables | 3 Artistic Visions

Jerre Watkins. New River Flat Rock Community, Acrylic on Canvas, 22" x 18" framed, $500.
Gallery Eleven's featured artists for July and August are painters Andrea Anderson and Jerre Watkins, with artisan jewelry and sculpture maven Damienne Dibble. Traditionally, wall paintings depict 2-dimensional interpretations of our 3-dimensional world, as seen or imagined by the artist. Wearable jewelry forms miniaturize 3-dimensional interpretations of symbolic self-manifestation. Each necklace, bracelet, pin, and earring is a personalized representation of a wearer's personality.

Damienne Dibble. Shibui Icon Fusion necklace series, $65-85.
We decorate our walls like we decorate our bodies with those extensions of ourselves we want others to respond to. The human need for artistic props in our lives is intangible, but real, as is an artist's need for self-expression. Painters Andrea Anderson and Jerre Watkins are representational artists with distinct artistic visions to share with the world.

Andrea Anderson. Birch Tree on Oak Trail at Coonskin Park. Acrylic on wood panel, $60.

Andrea Anderson. Blackwater Falls State Park. acrylic on wood panel. $400
Andrea's current acrylic paintings are direct interpretations of the wilderness she loves to explore. It is where she finds respite, refreshment, and stimulation in her busy life as bartender, musician, painter, graphic artist and website editor. More about Andrea Anderson

Jerre Watkins. Outside Looking In, Watercolor on Paper, 36" x 28" framed, $600.
Jerre's paintings show more emphasis on stylistic arrangement of nature’s surfaces: water, earth, sky, plant life. Jerre works with oil and acrylic paints, but her main expertise after 45 years is in watercolors.
"My process begins with a line drawing of my subject on watercolor paper. Over this, I apply an abstract underpainting with various colors, shapes and textures. Then I paint the shapes from original drawing, which interweave and overlap with the previous abstract layer for a kind of contemporary realism. Allowing the translucent watercolor paint to do its own thing helps my creative vision." More about Jerre Watkins
In addition to jewelry, Damienne has also developed a series of sculptural works with wire, gemstones, and iconic objects she calls House Jewelry. This includes wire bonsai landscapes, wall and window charms as well as ornaments for mantels, ceiling fans, lampshades, doorways, Christmas trees, and cars. More about Damienne Dibble
