Gallery Eleven | 50 Years to Gold
This month, Gallery Eleven celebrates 50 years of selling original paintings, prints, sculpture, pottery, glass, and jewelry by area artists in downtown Charleston. The art works on display include paintings by Milton Koslow, Rosalie Atkins, Tony Papa, Judy Foxx, Joyce Grow, Sharon McClanahan, Larry Wolfe, Patty Stewart, Pat Miller, Carol Hillary, Amy Stout, Kathy Boland, and Pat Roberts.

Everyone is invited to our Open House reception for a meet-and-greet with the artists on Sunday, October 5, 2-5 PM. Refreshments will be served.
In October 1975, eleven artists opened Gallery Eleven as a cooperative art gallery where member artists could have a permanent location to display and sell their creative works. Its first location was in the Noyes Building at Broad and Quarrier Street.

That building is now gone, and the membership has changed many times over the past 50 years, but the gallery is still going strong at its fourth location in Charleston Town Center. A detailed article about the founding and growth of Gallery Eleven by Lynne Schwartz-Barker is featured in the Spring 2025 issue of Goldenseal magazine, available at Gallery Eleven and Taylor Books in downtown Charleston.

Since its beginning, every member has helped perform the day-to-day functions of running a gallery with no paid staff. Under this arrangement, member artists can maintain affordable prices and develop an onsite relationship with potential art buyers. When you visit the gallery, at least one of our 13 member artists is always on hand for questions about our artists and their works while you browse. The gallery is open Wed.-Sat,11:00 AM-7:00 PM, and Sun, 12.30-5:30 PM.
