A retired United Methodist pastor and lawyer, Monty fell into his love of painting by accident. For him, the exercise of painting is a playful act of spiritual co-creation. With oil paints as his primary medium, Monty enjoys painting landscapes and still life almost as well as his portraits, which he does by commission. Monty signs his paintings with a red stick figure face with ten hairs sticking out.
A painter and printmaker from Charleston, WV, Kathy Boland is particularly known for her vibrant sketches in a variety of media and her prints of the gardens and parlor of the Greenbrier Resort. West Virginia scenery is a recurrent theme in her work, including such series as “The Road Home” and “The Grand Dames of Charleston”.
Native West Virginian Linda Stonestreet is well known in the Charleston art scene and a longtime active member of several local arts groups. She uses a palette knife in a variety of media to express her love of nature's many aspects. "I paint in various rooms in my home. All views are breathtaking where we live, surrounded by woods on top of a mountain. There are large windows for abundant natural light, a high ceiling, and a hard wood floor."
